OKLAHOMA CITY, Aug. 26, 2019 - Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores, the nation's industry-leading travel stop network, is celebrating National Dog Day this year by announcing new parks for man's best friend. The company now has more than 60 dog parks, with an additional 90 under construction - numbers far exceeding Love's original expectations.

"As more and more professional drivers take their four-legged friends with them on the road, we've seen great use of our dog parks," said Lance Schmidt, Love's director of facilities maintenance. "Dogs have become such important members of the family, so we've also seen strong demand from four-wheel travelers as well."

National Dog Day is Aug. 26. Love's opened its first dog park in late summer of 2018 to extend its top-tier customer service to fury family members. The company decided to add a dog park to each new location and retrofit older locations due to high demand from customers. Customer engagement has also dictated design and placement of the dog parks.

Customers can find Love's dog parks here.

Dr. Jeff Studer, from Oklahoma State University's Center for Veterinary Health Sciences, said dog parks are essential for healthy travel.

"Providing a safe space for dogs to go to the bathroom and stretch their legs on road trips is just as important to their health as it is to ours," Studer said. "These parks are a great amenity by Love's because they make traveling less 'ruff' for dogs."
